Jackson Purchase Dance Company workshop for children of the NYPD and FDNY victims.

The Jackson Purchase Dance Company (JPDC) recently held outreach programming to raise funds for Arts Programming for the inner city children of New York City. The JPDC provided performances of their original ballet of The Hobbit and workshops for children of the NYPD and the FDNY who were victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Performances were held in New York at the Westside YMCA and the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, July 17 - 21. The workshops and performances raised almost $250,000 for children’s arts programs. Funding from these programs were drastically reduced due to the tragedy of September 11. JPDC dancers presented murals from the YMCA and the Centre Of Dance in Murray, Kentucky. This proactive project was entitled “A Gift from the Children of Kentucky to the Children of New York.” It was sponsored in part by Manhattan Tour and Travel. The Jackson Purchase Dance Company is located in Murray, Kentucky and serves the eight county region of West Kentucky.
