Performing Arts on Tour Directory

Attention Performing Artists!

Whether you are a solo artist or a group, a musician, dancer, actor, storyteller or other kind of performing artist, the KAC needs you to apply for inclusion in the Performing Arts on Tour Directory. The deadline is coming up: May 15, 2003.

The purpose of the Performing Arts on Tour Directory is to promote, showcase and provide professional development opportunities to a diverse selection of Kentucky's finest contemporary and traditional performing artists. A jury selects artists based upon their artistic excellence, successful performing history and interest in continuing or expanding their performing opportunities.

The Directory is used by in- and out-of-state presenters and organizations as a resource for identifying artists for performance bookings and projects. Additionally, the Kentucky Arts Council promotes performers from the Directory in various performance venues throughout the year as well as through the print Directory and on the KAC’s Web site. The KAC also includes artists from the Performing Arts on Tour Directory in performing and marketing opportunities in association with other Kentucky Arts Council programs. Kentucky Crafted: The Market includes two days of live performances of artists from the Performing Arts on Tour Directory as well as opportunities to sell CD’s, tapes and videos through wholesale outlets and to the general public.

To apply, artists need to submit a complete application and include:

  • A work sample (CD, cassette or video) of their performance;
  • A high quality photograph of the artist or group; and
  • Marketing or promotional materials of the artist or group.

Please note: Artists are also encouraged to look at the KAC’s Individual Artist Professional Development Grant which is designed to assist artists in the development of their professional lives. The creation of work samples or marketing or promotional materials are eligible requests.

Check out the full guidelines, instructions and applications for the Performing Arts on Tour Directory, the Individual Artist Professional Development Grant, and the Individual Artist Project Grant. Call KAC at 888-833-2787 to request print copies.
