Governor's Derby Breakfast
The Governor's Derby Breakfast has been a tradition
since 1972. The first public breakfast at the Capitol involved only a few hundred
guests. But it has since grown to a celebration of Kentucky's unique culture
that draws thousands of visitors annually.
The Kentucky Department of Parks prepares the food for this free buffet-style meal which is served from 7 to 11 a.m. Entertainment will be performed on three stages around the Capitol grounds. Kentucky craftspeople and artists will display and sell their work. Children's activities ranging from hat-making to face painting will also take place. Weather permitting, hot air balloon rides will be offered on the grounds.
Derby Breakfast parking will be available at the CHR Complex, 275 E. Main St. A free shuttle bus service will operate between CHR, the Kentucky History Center, and the Capitol. Hours for the shuttle are 6:30 a.m. to noon. Handicap parking will be available in the parking lot just west of the Capitol.

Celebration of Hope
The “Celebration of Hope” is an annual event that was established
in 1996 to pay tribute to the courageous women who have fought and continue
to fight their battle with breast cancer. This gathering of women
serves to remind us that breast cancer is the most common form of cancer and
the second leading cause of death among women.
On Monday, May 1, 2006, First Lady Glenna Fletcher will host an afternoon of camaraderie and tribute to the lives of hundreds of women across the commonwealth.
