Abandoned Mine Lands, Division of
The Division of Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) works throughout the state’s coal fields to protect the public from health and safety problems that are the result of mining that occurred prior to 1982.

Administrative Hearings Branch
This branch employs Hearing Officers who conduct hearings and render findings of fact, conclusions of law and recommended orders and/or final decisions on matters involving the Office of Certificate of Need; Office of Inspector General, Division of Licensing and Regulation; Department for Medicaid Services; Department of Public Health; and the Department for Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services.

The office holds administrative, adjudicatory hearings upon the filing of a petition or complaint, and recommends to the Cabinet Secretary the final action that should be taken.

Aging Services, Office of
This Office is the designated State Unit on Aging under the Older American’s Act, providing services to help older Kentuckians and their families, through a statewide network of local, private and public agencies.

This office assists farmers, agricultural businesses, and commodity groups to promote and market their products by expanding existing markets, as well as by developing domestic and international markets.

Air Quality, Division for
The Kentucky Division for Air Quality is the state agency primarily responsible for enforcing the state and federal air quality standards in the Commonwealth of Kentucky with the goal of protecting public health and welfare.

Air Transport, Division of

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors, Board of

This board decides claims filed against the state by citizens who believe their property has been damaged through negligent acts on the part of the state.

Commercial Mobile Radio Service Emergency Telecommunications Board
The CMRS Board is charged with administrating the CMRS fund for the purpose of implementing wireless emergency 911 service through out Kentucky in accordance with State and Federal Legislation and Regulation.

Environmental Education Council

Environmental Outreach, Office for
This office was established to help farmers and agribusinesses address environmental concerns and tackle pertinent environmental issues. The office sponsors the Commissioner's Sustainable Agriculture Award, given annually to the farm families who utilize earth-friendly techniques on the farms.

This commission is charged with the mission of strengthening the public role in sovling environmental problems in our communities and state.

The Department for Facilities Management is responsible for the management and administration of the Commonwealth's capital construction program, real property acquisition, disposition and leasing program, and daily operation of state-owned office buildings and other assigned state properties.

Families and Children, Cabinet for (Office of the Secretary)
The Cabinet for Families and Children provides human services for the citizens of Kentucky. The Cabinet’s services include protection for vulnerable children and adults, child abuse investigations, foster care, adoptions, child support collections, cash assistance, food stamps, disability determinations, and more.

Family Resources and Youth Services Center, Office of
The Office of Family Resource and Youth Services Centers (FRYSC) provides administrative, technical assistance and training support to the local school-based Family Resource and Youth Services Centers.

Fee-Based Pastoral Counselors, Board of Certification of
The purpose of the Board of Fee-Based Pastoral Counselors is to administer and enforce the statutory authority and to monitor the needs of the consuming public. Field Services, Division of
The Division of Field Services is responsible for inspecting all surface and underground coal mining permits in the state to assure compliance with the 1977 Federal Surface Mining Control Act (SMCRA).

Finance and Administration Cabinet
The Finance and Administration Cabinet impacts all of state government and every state employee. We have wide-ranging duties including policy development, procurement of goods and services, the maintenance of state-owned facilities, and employee training--to name just a few. General Counsel, Office of (Labor Cabinet)
The General Counsel serves as legal counsel for the Secretary of Labor in matters for which the Cabinet is responsible. This responsibility involves representing the Cabinet in all cases concerning occupational safety and health and wage and hour regulations, including those cases pertaining to discrimination against employees because of sex, disability, or for exercising their rights relative to labor laws. The Office of the General Counsel also assists in the preparation and review of all legislation relating to labor laws and the Labor Cabinet.

The Office of General Counsel provides legal advice and assistance to the Cabinet.

This council's mission is to provide leadership in the coordination and development of geographic information resources in Kentucky. The Office of Geographic Information (OGI) is responsible for encouraging, coordinating, and implementing GIS programs within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Office of Geographic Information Systems (OGI) is the coordinating body within Kentucky State Government for geo-spatial data creation, sharing, dissemination and geographic information systems (GIS) technology use and implementation.

This park is a working horse farm with 1,200 acres surrounded by 30 miles of white plank fencing. The park is like none other in the world. Dedicated to man's relationship with the horse, the park features two outstanding museums, twin theaters and nearly 50 different breeds of horses.

Kentucky Adult Education
This department is committed to a quality adult education system that is accountable and efficient. They also strive for continuous improvement in all aspects of adult education in Kentucky.

Kentucky Commission on Women
This commission is mandated to promote, encourage, and provide advisory assistance in the establishment of local volunteer community improvement programs for, and of interest to, women, conduct programs, studies, seminars, and conferences, and encourage state and local women’s business, professional, and civic organizations to do likewise, to educate the public to the problems of women, consult with and advise the Governor and the agencies, departments, boards, and commissions of the state and local and municipal governments on matters pertaining to women; and cooperate with the federal government and with the governments of other states in programs relating to women.

Kentucky Community and Technical College System
Kentucky Community and Technical College System comprises 16 districts with 62 campuses open or under construction. KCTCS colleges change lives by providing accessible and affordable education and training through academic and technical associate degrees; diploma and certificate programs in occupational fields; pre-baccalaureate education; adult, continuing and developmental education; customized training for business and industry; and distance learning.

Kentucky Community Crisis Response Board

Kentucky Court of Justice
In 1975, Kentucky voters created the Court of Justice when they supported a constitutional amendment to the Judicial Article that provided for a unified, four-tiered system for operation and administration. Judicial power of the Commonwealth of Kentucky is thus vested in one Court of Justice, which is divided into a Supreme Court, a Court of Appeals, a trial court of general jurisdiction known as the Circuit Court and a trial court of limited jurisdiction known as the District Court. In 2002, an amendment to the Kentucky Constitution made Family Court a division of Circuit Court.

This is a public corporation and governmental agency and instrumentality of the Commonwealth established in 1966 to improve students’ access to higher education.

Kentucky Housing Corporation
KHC offers programs that include rental housing production financing, homeownership education/counseling and a variety of rental assistance, housing rehabilitation and home repair initiatives.

Kentucky Long-Term Policy Research Center
The mission of Kentucky Long-Term Policy Research Center (KLTPRC) is to change the way decisions are made in the Commonwealth of Kentucky by bringing a new perspective to policymaking.

Kentucky Retirement Systems
Kentucky Retirement Systems (KRS) is responsible for the investment of funds and administration of benefits for over 267,000 state and local government employees in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Kentucky State Fair Board
The Kentucky State Fair Board operates two of the largest convention and trade show facilities in the state - the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center and the Kentucky International Convention Center - located in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to hosting traveling events year round at the two facilities, the Kentucky State Fair Board also produces three events of its own. These three signature events are the Kentucky State Fair, the National Farm Machinery Show, and the North American International Livestock Exposition.

The Kentucky Legislative Ethics Commission, independent agency of the legislative department of state government, implements Code of Conduct for General Assembly Members, registers lobbyists and their employers, and investigates complaints of Code violations.

Legislative Research Commission
Services that this commission provides include: committee staffing, bill drafting, oversight of the state budget and educational reform, production of educational materials, maintenance of a reference library and Internet site, and the preparation and printing of research reports, informational bulletins and a legislative newspaper.

The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) serves Kentucky's need to know by supporting Kentucky public libraries, state agencies, and the blind and physically handicapped with collections and services to fulfill information needs.
