in 2005.

Kentucky Office of Homeland Security today announced three
grants for Green County and the City of Greensburg. A Homeland
Security grant in the amount of $30,000 was presented to the
City of Greensburg. Additionally, Green County received a
Recreational Trails grant in the amount of $13,325 for Wyatt
Jeffries Woods of Green County and a $12,500 Cemetery Preservation
grant for the Bethlehem Cemetery in Greensburg.

Most of us know all too
well that Kentucky is not a very healthy state. Health insurance
costs are high, and so are Kentucky's rates of diabetes,
heart disease and cancer. This crisis reaches beyond health
to other critical issues facing the commonwealth. It reduces
our quality of life. It costs money that could otherwise be
invested in education or jobs. And an unhealthy work force
limits our economic productivity. Nowhere is this crisis as
pronounced as in our Medicaid program.

and Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Gene Strong announced
today that Joy Mining Machinery, a global leader in the development,
manufacture, distribution and service of underground mining
equipment, to locate its new manufacturing and service operation
in Lebanon. The $7.1 million investment will create more than
200 new jobs in the commonwealth.

Governor Ernie Fletcher
and Cabinet for Economic Development Secretary Gene Strong
announced today the decision by UGN, Inc. to locate a new
facility in Pulaski County, creating an initial 150 jobs with
an expected total of 300 jobs in the next three years. The
project represents a $16 million investment in the commonwealth.

and Cabinet for Economic Development Secretary Gene Strong
announced today that Humana Inc., Kentucky's largest publicly
traded company, will expand operations in Louisville and Northern
Kentucky creating a total of 1,113 new jobs for Kentuckians.
The new jobs would have an annual payroll of more than $55
million.

Governor Ernie Fletcher
today announced a formation of a committee to oversee preparation
for the 2008 Ryder Cup in Louisville. The 16-member panel
will be tasked with making sure that the state is fully engaged
in making the tournament a success and ensuring that Kentucky
and the city of Louisville receive significant exposure and
economic impact from the thousands of visitors expected to
visit the commonwealth during the Ryder Cup tournament, scheduled
for September 2008 at Valhalla Golf Club.

to receive $300,000 workforce investment grant

has been notified by the U.S. Department of Labor this afternoon
that Kentucky will receive $300,000 in national emergency
grant funds to target workers, businesses and communities
potentially at risk as a result of Base Realignment and Closure
(BRAC) 2005.
