Governor Ernie Fletcher Appoints Three to the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board

Donna Amburgey, Rodney Dick, and H. Barlow Appointed to the Board

Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher today announced the appointment of three Kentucky farmers to the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board. Donna Amburgey of Mount Sterling, Rodney Dick of Pulaski County, and H. Barlow of Glasgow have been appointed to fill vacant positions on the board.

Donna Amburgey of Mount Sterling has worked at the Mount Sterling National Bank for 21 years and currently serves on the Montgomery County Cattlemen Association Board. She is an active member of the Montgomery County community and is a graduate of the 1996 class of Leadership Kentucky. Rodney Dick of Nancy, KY is a member of the Farm Credit Services Advisory Board and has served as President of the Nancy Young Farmers and as Vice President of the Lake Cumberland Young Farmers. H. Barlow of Glasgow earned his B.S. Agriculture Animal Science and Management from the University of Kentucky. Mr. Barlow also serves as the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association Director for Lone Star Milk Producers Coop.

The 15 member Agricultural Development Board is comprised of the Governor, commissioner of the Department of Agriculture, the secretary of the Economic Development Cabinet, and the director of the Cooperative Extension Service. In addition, the council has 11 members appointed by the Governor who by statute are to include at least 4 members from counties substantially tobacco-related, and at least 2 of whom have experience in agricultural diversification. Also, the board is to include 1 representative of the Kentucky Farm Bureau, 1 from the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, 1 attorney with farm experience and familiarity with agricultural policy, and 1 agricultural lender. Board members serve 4 year terms.
