Don Ball, Gail Melvin and David Wombwell Appointed by Governor Fletcher
Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today the appointment of Don Ball of Lexington, KY, Gail Melvin of Russell, KY, and David Wombwell of Louisville, KY to the Kentucky Housing Corporation Board of Directors. The Kentucky Housing Corporation, created by the 1972 General Assembly, is a self-supporting, public corporation of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Don Ball, who will be representing interests of the home construction industry, is currently the Chairman of the Board of Ball Homes, LLC. Ball is also a member of the newly established Kentucky Horse Racing Authority and has been selected as Chairman of the Board for the Kentucky Housing Corporation. Gail Melvin, who will be representing interests of local government, is currently the Economic Development Director for the City of Ashland. Melvin is involved in numerous organizations including Preservation Kentucky, the Kentucky Progress Committee and the United Way for Greenup and Boyd counties. David Wombwell, who will be representing interests of financial lending institutions, is currently the Senior Vice President with U.S. Bank in Louisville. Wombwell also serves as the Treasurer and Board Member of the Louisville Science Center and is a Board Member of the Children's Hospital Foundation.
A portion of KHC funds are derived from the interest earned through the sale of tax-exempt mortgage revenue bonds. From these proceeds, KHC has made homeownership possible for over 55,000 low- and moderate-income Kentucky families. KHC also operates through the receipt of fees for administering federal programs including rental assistance that makes safe, decent, affordable housing available to more than 27,000 low-income Kentuckians. Other programs additionally offered by KHC include rental housing production financing, homeownership education/counseling and a variety of rental assistance, housing rehabilitation and home repair initiatives.
