Long time State Employee Selected to Lead KIA

Frankfort, KY:  Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today that Jody E. Hughes has been selected by the Board of Directors as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority.  Hughes has been with State Government for almost twenty (20) years.  His various responsibilities included financial, programmatic, facility issues and migrant labor.

Presently, Hughes serves as Vice-Chairman of the Blue Grass Electric Cooperative Board of Directors.  During his twenty-nine (29) years with the BGEC he has earned a Director's Certificate and a Board Leadership Certificate from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, which provides training in the operation of electric cooperatives.

Currently, Hughes is also serving as Vice-Chairman of the Lawrenceburg-Anderson County Joint Planning Commission.   Hughes has served as a Commissioner for fourteen (14) years.

"I would like to express my appreciation to the Board of Directors at KIA for the opportunity to serve the Commonwealth in this capacity,” said Jody Hughes.  "My belief is that electricity and water are two basic essentials that will improve the quality of life for every Kentuckian.  I am looking forward to being a part of this administration's team to provide basic infrastructure as we strive for economic growth.”

During his many years of public service, Mr. Hughes has also served the U.S. Navy Reserve, as Chief Petty Officer for thirty nine (39) years.  In addition, he is past Chairman of the Anderson County Extension District Board.  Hughes has served the Extension Board for the past twenty five (25) years.

"Jody Hughes has a history of effectiveness in getting things done that will move the KIA forward,” stated Governor Ernie Fletcher. "Jody offers both a private and public perspective on issues regarding public works projects, and I look forward to working with him as we work to provide greater opportunity for every Kentuckian.”

The Kentucky Infrastructure Authority (KIA) was created in 1988 to provide the mechanism for funding construction of local public works projects.  KIA is continually growing and expanding its services.  Through the various programs currently offered, KIA has become the answer for local financing needs.
