Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today that Mark Treesh has been appointed Commissioner of the Department of Revenue.
Treesh, a resident of Philpot in Daviess County, most recently worked as the legislative liaison for the Finance and Administration Cabinet during the 2004 legislative session. Prior to joining Governor Fletcher's administration, Treesh represented the 14th district in the Kentucky House of Representatives for nearly 10 years.
"Mark's legislative experience was a tremendous asset during the recent session,” stated Governor Ernie Fletcher. "His knowledge was key to the success of important legislation like SB 228 and HB 162, which will allow the state greater capacity to collect debts owed to it.”
Treesh holds a bachelor's in management with a specialization in marketing and a master's in management with a concentration in accounting from Purdue University. He has 21 years of professional accounting experience and holds both CPA and CMA credentials.
"Mark is a highly qualified individual and I am excited that he has accepted this appointment,” said Finance and Administration Cabinet Secretary Robbie Rudolph. "His leadership and expertise will be a tremendous asset as we work together to move this state forward.”
The Department of Revenue has 991 employees. It is the state government agency charged with the administration and enforcement of all state revenue laws and for the assessment and collection of state taxes.
