Reverend Earl Junior Jackson Appointed and Richard Fowler, Lynda Thomas, and Howard Bailey Reappointed to the Commission

Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today the appointment of Reverend Earl Junior Jackson and the reappointment of Reverend Richard Fowler, Lynda Thomas and Howard Bailey to the Kentucky African-American Heritage Commission. The mission of the Commission is to identify and promote awareness of the significant African-American influences upon the history and culture of Kentucky and to support and encourage the preservation of Kentucky African- American heritage.

Reverend Earl Junior Jackson is the pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church in Bowling Green, KY. Reverend Jackson is currently a member of the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America and serves as President of the Kentucky State Missionary Baptist M&E Convention. Reverend Richard Fowler of Wilder, KY is the pastor of Ninth Street Baptist Church in Covington, KY. Rev. Fowler also serves of the Board of the Family Service of Greater Cincinnati and the Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Council. Lynda Thomas of Lexington, KY is a researcher/producer for Kentucky Educational Television (KET) in Lexington. Howard Bailey of Bowling Green, KY is the Vice President and Dean of Student Life at Western Kentucky University.

The Kentucky African-American Heritage Commission seeks to educate the public about the achievements, contributions and heritage of Kentucky African Americans. The Commission also assists with the preservation of significant African-American buildings, sites, neighborhoods, documents and artifacts, and promotes the conservation of African-American traditions and culture.
