Governor Fletcher to work on development of life sciences industry
Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher and a Kentucky delegation will attend the BIO 2004 Conference in San Francisco, California next week. The goal is to attract life science businesses to the commonwealth and explore the direction and focus of university research and commercialization opportunities from those research programs.

As Governor, I am committed to making Kentucky a world leader in agriculture and natural products,” stated Governor Fletcher. "We will be meeting with early-stage companies involved in natural products such as plant-based pharmaceuticals and advanced ingredients in animal feed, to encourage them to locate to Kentucky.”
The biotech companies that are currently established in Kentucky include: Martech in Winchester, Large Scale Biology in Owensboro, and Altech in Nicholasville.
Governor Fletcher will arrive in San Francisco on Sunday, June 6, where he will attend the BIO Conference until Wednesday, June 9.
