Governor Fletcher urges people to contact legislators
Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher took his tax modernization message to Western Kentucky today. The Governor made stops in Bowling Green, Paducah and Owensboro during day three of his statewide tour. "My JOBS for Kentucky tax modernization plan will create jobs and help grow the local economy,” stated Governor Fletcher.
The Governor kicked off today's media events by speaking at Bowling Green Community College about the importance of the Technology Center and Magna to Bowling Green. "Right now in Kentucky, we are unable to attract and retain the human capital we need to grow our economy, because our tax code punishes work, savings, and investment,” Governor Fletcher stated.
Paducah was the next stop of the day; Governor Fletcher visited the Paducah Arts Center to discuss the importance of tourism. "Important local projects that will help bring in more tourists and projects that will help improve the quality of life in Kentucky could be in jeopardy if legislators do not pass the Senate budget with JOBS for Kentucky,” stated the Governor.
Finally, the Governor paid a visit to Owensboro where he delivered a strong message at Owensboro Community College. Governor Fletcher relayed the importance of the education opportunities in the state and how JOBS for Kentucky would provide for better employment opportunities.
"My number one priority is to make Kentucky a more competitive, more attractive state in which to do business. JOBS for Kentucky will take us to the next level in the New Economy,” stated Governor Fletcher. "It is essential to pass the Senate budget with JOBS for Kentucky in order for our great Commonwealth to move forward, rather than to continue to slide behind our neighboring states when it comes to economic growth, education, and employment opportunities.”
