Current Chairman for the Republican Party of Kentucky to serve on the
Public Service Commission
Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today the appointment of Ellen Williams to the Public Service Commission. Williams has served as Chairman for the Republican Party of Kentucky for 5 years. Her appointment to the Public Service Commission will be effective April 11, 2004.
Williams has more than a decade of experience in Washington, DC; working on Capitol Hill in the House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and at the White House for former President George Bush.
"Ellen is a woman with good judgment, extensive experience, and the ability to get things done,” stated Governor Ernie Fletcher. "I am confident she will be able to provide a balance in the relationships between state and federal government as it relates to the Public Service Commission.”
The mission of the Kentucky Public Service Commission (KYPSC) is to ensure that every utility customer receives fair and reasonable rates and that all services are adequate and efficient. KYPSC has jurisdiction over the regulation of rates and service of all utilities in the state except those utilities subject to the control of cities or political subdivisions.
"I am honored to serve on the Public Service Commission,” said Ellen Williams. "I am anxious to provide my skills and experience to Governor Fletcher's administration and serve the people of the Commonwealth.”
Williams will resign as Chairman of the Republican Party of Kentucky in order to take the position. The Executive Committee of the Republican State Central Committee will name a new Chairman in the near future.
