House Bill 577 Passes Out of the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resource Committee
Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher's coal bed methane initiative took another significant step forward today with the passage of House Bill 577 from the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resource Committee. The bill will now move to the Senate floor for consideration.
"This initiative will provide a vital boost to economic development in Kentucky as it will provide incentives to companies who want to locate near readily available, inexpensive energy sources,” stated Governor Ernie Fletcher.
Governor Fletcher wrote in his Prescription for Kentucky that "When harnessed, this energy resource could provide a very unique and attractive incentive to companies looking to locate near clean burning and efficient energy sources.”
"I would like to recognize Representative Buddy Buckingham and Senator Brett Guthrie for their leadership in moving this issue forward and I ask that the Senate act quickly to pass this important legislation,” continued Governor Fletcher.
House Bill 577 unanimously passed in the House of Representatives on March 2.
