House Bill 609 Passed the Senate Economic Development, Tourism and Labor Committee
Frankfort, KY: A central component of the Governor's efforts to make Kentucky a more ‘business friendly’ environment moved closer to being signed into law yesterday. The Senate Economic Development, Tourism & Labor Committee passed House Bill 609 and moved it to the Senate floor for final passage.
"Small business is the backbone of Kentucky's economy. It is essential that we create an environment where entrepreneurs can thrive and small business can grow,” stated Governor Ernie Fletcher.
"HB 609 gives small business-through the Commission on Small Business Advocacy-a formal seat at the table to comment on regulations during the public comment period. This input will lead to a more business friendly environment as the impact of regulations on small business is considered before they go on the books,” continued Governor Fletcher.
Studies show that if the regulatory burden on KY business was reduced by 5%, employers would have an additional $450 million to invest in health care, business expansion and jobs.
