Governor Fletcher discussed key Northern Kentucky projects, benefits of tax modernization

Frankfort, KY:    In a continuing effort to raise awareness about the critical need for state lawmakers to pass the Kentucky Senate's Budget with JOBS for Kentucky, Governor Ernie Fletcher paid a highly anticipated visit to Northern Kentucky today.

Governor Fletcher first toured the Northern Kentucky University Job Fair before speaking to more than 300 supporters at Regents Hall on the campus of NKU.

The Governor reiterated the fact that key Northern Kentucky projects are included in the Senate Budget, which state lawmakers must vote on next week.  These projects include $14 million for a new allied health building at Gateway Community College as well as $47 million for the Northern Kentucky Special Events Center.

"With the Senate Budget we are proposing real progress and real money for these projects,” stated Governor Ernie Fletcher.  "The Senate Budget with JOBS for Kentucky, my tax modernization plan, will allow Northern Kentucky to continue its growth as a major economic powerhouse of the Commonwealth.  Without the Senate Budget and JOBS for Kentucky, these projects and future economic opportunity could be in jeopardy.”

Governor Fletcher stressed Kentucky needs a budget that funds priorities but forces government to live within its means, along with a tax modernization plan that creates jobs, provides economic opportunity and makes Kentucky competitive.
