Governor Fletcher, Bipartisan Leaders Welcome Support of the Kentucky League of Cities
Frankfort, KY: With yet another group displaying their support for Governor Ernie Fletcher's bipartisan, bicameral tax modernization proposal, the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) announces its support for the JOBS for Kentucky plan. The Kentucky League of Cities is the principal legislative advocate for 377 member city governments. The KLC stated its specific endorsement of the state telecommunications excise tax because it "appropriately addresses a complex and dynamic industry and captures tax revenues in a fair and equitable manner,” the League stated in its Resolution 1-2004.
"I appreciate the support of one of the strongest advocates for Kentucky's local communities,” stated Governor Fletcher. "This organization has championed tax modernization, at both the state and local levels, for many years, as an absolutely necessary ingredient to enable the Commonwealth and its local governments to compete successfully in the "new economy.” I look forward to working with the KLC and its members to implement JOBS for Kentucky, which will move this Commonwealth forward and provide greater opportunities for Kentuckians.”
