Northern Kentucky Chamber calls "JOBS for Kentucky” a step in the right direction
Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today another major endorsement of his tax modernization plan. Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce officially announced its support of "JOBS for Kentucky,” citing the plan as a step in the right direction.
The Northern Kentucky Chamber says the plan has the potential to be a significant improvement over the existing tax structure. Members believe Governor Fletcher's plan is an important first stride in enhancing Kentucky's business competitiveness.
Specifically, the Chamber believes that eliminating the corporate license tax, lowering the corporate income tax rate, repealing the tax on intangible personal property, and lowering the personal income tax rate for all Kentuckians would be good for business and the state's economy.
"The Governor's plan offers much that is good,” stated Chamber President Gary Toebben. "Our goal is to be a part of the process that makes it better.”
"Northern Kentucky has a growing economy that is fueled by an excellent labor force, two interstate highways, and an international airport. I’m thrilled to have the support of the business leaders in this important area,” stated Governor Ernie Fletcher. "Tax modernization is an issue that has been discussed and debated for far too long. I appreciate the fact that business leaders agree it's time to take action on an effort that will make our state more competitive.”
