Louisville Attorney Riggs Lewis to Serve as Special
Advisor to the Governor for Public Policy

Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today that Louisville attorney Riggs Lewis will serve as Special Advisor to the Governor for Public Policy. Lewis, who is a Louisville native, has policy experience that spans eight sessions of the Kentucky General Assembly where he served as the Director of Government Affairs for Greater Louisville Inc, the Metro Chamber of Commerce.  In that position, Lewis directed the Louisville business community's policy agenda, including the historic legislation that allowed for Louisville's merger.

"It is an honor to join this team of intelligent, forward thinking individuals who are looking to serve our Commonwealth,” stated Riggs Lewis. "I look forward to representing Louisville and the entire state of Kentucky as I work with Governor Fletcher to develop and craft public policy that will benefit every Kentuckian across this great state.”

In 2001, Riggs Lewis was selected by Business First magazine as one of Louisville's Forty Under 40, a recognition of dynamic business leaders in the Greater Louisville region.

"It's good to have a friend like Riggs in Frankfort who will well represent the interests of Louisville and the interests of every Kentuckian,” said Kelly Downard, Louisville Metro Councilman and minority Caucus Chairman.

Lewis is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and earned his Juris Doctor in law from the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law, in May 2001 and his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Kentucky in 1991. Lewis is married to Alicia Langley Lewis, of Athens, GA., who served as the 1996 campaign manager for Congresswoman Anne Northup.

"For too long Louisville issues have not been heard in Frankfort,” said Doug Cobb, Louisville business leader and entrepreneur. "Riggs knows Kentucky and Louisville and he will do an outstanding job for all Kentuckians."

"I am honored to have Riggs Lewis serve as my special advisor for public policy,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. "Riggs has an extensive background in developing public policy from its concept to its final passage, and I look forward to working with him as he will be an outstanding asset to this administration.”
