Kentucky Workforce Investment Board is the leading policy board
for the Commonwealth's workforce development system. The board's
role is to develop, communicate and oversee the implementation of
a strategic vision and plan for developing a world-class workforce
in Kentucky.

Youth
Resource Directory |
The
online youth resource directory, now available at http://www.uky.edu/SocialWork/KYouthresource/,
provides a comprehensive list of educational, employment training
and support services for Kentucky's youth, ages 14 to 21. The
directory is an ongoing effort to make accurate information about
youth services available to youth, service providers, and anyone who
is interested. Youth service providers are invited to
participate by providing information about their organization and
the services they provide.
The Workforce
Investment Act: Reauthorization to Address the "Skills
Gap" (December 2003) The
reauthorization of the Workforce Investment Act, now before
Congress, provides an opportunity to implement a number of
proposals--including increased funding, regional coordination,
better outreach to immigrants, and improved reporting--that could
significantly advance the nation's employment and training options.

Kentucky Employability
Certificate--The Kentucky Employability
Certificate (KEC) confirms to employers that an individual
possesses basic skills in reading, math and finding information
skills that all jobs require. The certificate, a standardized
credential, affirms that the holder is job ready. The KWIB is
a major sponsor, along with ACT, Inc., of the new KEC. For more information,
