Governor’s
Derby Breakfast Invitations Sent Out
Frankfort – The 2001 Governor’s Derby Breakfast and Celebration souvenir invitations are officially in the mail. This year’s Breakfast will be held from 7 – 11 a.m. on Derby day, Saturday, May 5 at the state Capitol in Frankfort.
Governor Patton said, “Judi and I look forward with great anticipation every year to the Derby Breakfast, when we get to host people from all across Kentucky, and the nation, to celebrate one of the Commonwealth’s greatest traditions. We invite everyone to join us in Frankfort this Derby morning.”
The
invitations feature three of the Horse Mania horses from last summer’s public
art exhibit in Lexington. The invitation can be viewed on the Governor’s Home
Page at:
http://www.state.ky.us/agencies/gov/01derby1.htm.
Live entertainment, Kentucky crafts, hot air balloon rides (weather permitting), free van tours of historic downtown Frankfort, and tours of the Governor's Office and the Executive Mansion are all among the many offerings available at the Derby Breakfast.
Due to congestion around the Capitol, parking is recommended in designated lots at the Department of Human Resources and Juniper Hills Golf Course. Shuttle buses will run from these parking areas to the site of the Derby Breakfast from 6:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Souvenir
invitations will be available on the shuttle buses and at the information tent.
The invitations are commemorative only and are not necessary to attend.
The
event is free and open to the public.
