During
a visit to Morgantown Active Day Center on October 6, Gov. Paul Patton discussed
the state's current Medicaid crisis with Jodi Oliver, a representative of Active
Services Corp., the company that operates the center.
Listening to the conversation were day center clients and their
relatives. Because of increasing
costs and decreasing revenue, Gov. Patton earlier this year announced $250
million in cuts in the Kentucky Medicaid program.
Gov. Patton, whose term in office expires December 8, urged Ms. Oliver,
Morgantown day center clients and others affected by the cuts to take their case
to the 2004 Kentucky General Assembly, where the budget for the next two years
will be decided. "Tell them
what you have just told me," he said.
