Gov. Paul Patton
smiled as he received a painting from representatives of the Burley Council,
given in appreciation of the Governor's support of Kentucky tobacco farmers, and
particularly for his leadership during negotiations of the Master Settlement
Agreement between tobacco companies and tobacco-producing states in 1998.
Making the presentation November 14 at the annual Farm-City Luncheon in
Louisville were Dean Wallace, left, director of the Burley Council; and John
Bullock, president of the Council. The
presentation was one of several made to Gov. Patton at the luncheon.
He also was recognized by representatives of the Thoroughbred horse
industry, the state's cattlemen and pork-producer associations, the Kentucky
Farm Bureau, and Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Billy Ray Smith.
