
Gov.
Paul Patton took part in the groundbreaking ceremony Sept. 24 for a
237,000-square-foot expansion of the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center (KFEC)
in Louisville. The expansion to the
KFEC South Wing is scheduled to be completed in 2005, and will keep the
facilities status as one of the nation's 10 largest fair and trade show
facilities. Participating in the
groundbreaking were, from left: Ann
Latta, secretary of the Kentucky Tourism Development Cabinet; Mary
"Mike" Hutya, representing the Recreational Vehicle Industry
Association, whose annual trade show is one of KFEC's largest events; state Rep.
Joni Jenkins, D-Shively; Gov. Patton; Mary Anne Cronan, chair of the Kentucky
State Fair Board; Louisville Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson; and state Rep. Scott
Brinkman, R-Louisville.
