Frankfort, Ky. - Lights, cameras, and action filled the rooms of the Governor's Mansion in Frankfort for two days, Sunday and Monday, as a production crew from the Arts and Entertainment Channel taped a segment for its "America's Castles" series.

The producer of the series, Elaine Walker, said Kentucky's Governor's Mansion is one of three governors' mansions selected for the program because, "It is reflective of a period of time that showcased America's craftsmanship for these types of residences and because the state of Kentucky has done such a wonderful job of restoring and preserving this structure." The other two mansions are Missouri's and New Jersey's.

Kentucky's Governor's Mansion was built in 1914 with public rooms on the first floor and the upper stories used as the private residence of the governor and family. First lady Judi Patton was interviewed for the program on what it's like living in the mansion.

On Tuesday, the producers will be shooting tape at the old Governor's Mansion in downtown Frankfort. That structure was built in 1797 and was recently renovated. It is now the home of the Lt. Governor and is the oldest executive residence still in use in the United States.

There is no definite date for airing the segment but Walker says it will likely be shown sometime in the spring of 1997.
