Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month in Kentucky. Governor Paul Patton today issued the proclamation, saying, "There’s no season, there’s no time, and there’s no excuse for abusing a child."

First Lady Judi Patton, who’s a tireless advocate for children, said, "We cannot ensure the safety and well-being of our children until everyone joins this effort. If we can ensure for every child that they will be loved and cherished and never faced with abuse, the future of the Commonwealth will be ensured."

An event marking Child Abuse Prevention Month will be held in Frankfort on April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. in the Capitol Rotunda. University of Kentucky championship winning basketball Coach Tubby Smith and child advocates will join the governor and Judi Patton.

Governor Patton established the Governor’s Office of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Services , and Mrs. Patton serves as the special advisor. For information about the office, contact Carol Jordan, Executive Director, at 502-564-2611.
