Governor Appoints Kenton County Judge/Executive

Rodney "Biz" Cain, a northern Kentucky business owner who serves as Secretary of the Workforce Development Cabinet, today was named by Governor Paul Patton to serve the remaining term of former Kenton County Judge/Executive Clyde Middleton, who resigned.

Governor Patton said, "Biz has been a good friend who’s served our administration well since the beginning. He’s been independently recommended as the best person for the job by a number of people in Kenton County. We believe he’ll provide continuity in the county judge’s office until the voters have their say."

Cain, whose home is in Independence, said, " I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience in Frankfort under Governor Patton’s leadership. The governor is a persuasive individual, who once again has convinced me that I’m the right person for the job." Cain said that he has spent a lot of time away from his family while serving two years in the Patton administration , and family considerations were an important factor in his decision to accept the appointment.

Cain is a multi-talented individual, with a successful plumbing supply business and a degree in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky. He attended Chase College of Law, has been a home builder, a licensed master plumber, an electrician, and cattle and tobacco farmer. He’s a former president of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.

He and his wife Jacqueline Cain have three sons and three granddaughters.

Cain’s last day at the Workforce Development Cabinet will be Friday, March 6th, and he will assume the duties of Kenton County Judge/Executive on Saturday, March 7th. "I’ve given this new opportunity a lot of thought and I’m looking forward to the challenge", Cain said.

Governor Patton said a search will begin after the General Assembly session ends for Cain’s replacement as Workforce Development Cabinet Secretary.
