Governor Patton, Lexington-Fayette County Officials Plan More Road Money for Needed Projects

(February 26, 1998) - Federal money totaling about $29 million dollars will be made available to address needed road projects in Lexington and Fayette County. That’s the result of a meeting today between Governor Paul Patton , members of the Fayette County legislative delegation, and Lexington Mayor Pam Miller.

Governor Patton said, "Due to this federal money, available over five years, we’ll be able to invest in additional projects currently unfunded in the proposed Six Year Road plan for Fayette County. This will include the Liberty-Todd’s Road improvement project, and allow us to begin work to address other road projects important to meet community needs according to Lexington/Fayette County’s priorities , such as Newtown Pike."

The delegation and Mayor Miller will meet with Transportation Secretary Jim Codell next week to re-evaluate the priority of the New Circle Road widening .
