Governor Appoints GOP Lawyer from London to Kentucky Registry of Election Finance Vacancy

Governor Paul Patton today named Warren Scoville, a Laurel County attorney, to fill a vacancy on the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance, created by the January 19, 1998 resignation of Scott Madon. The governor, required by statute to make the appointment of a Republican, solicited nominations from non-partisan groups. Scoville was nominated by Common Cause and put his own name into consideration.

Governor Patton said, " I have never met Scoville, but based on the recommendations , I believe he has strong Republican credentials, the ability to be fair , and considerable experience as well as demonstrated interest in campaign finance reform. "

Scoville said, "I do not personally know Governor Patton, nor have I ever supported him politically. I welcome this opportunity to serve in the best interests of ensuring independent and impartial administration of campaign finance laws and regulations for Kentuckians.""

Scoville, who received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and his law degree from the University of Louisville, is a senior partner and owner in the law firm Scoville, Cessna, and Associates. He’s a former Navy pilot who served in Vietnam and worked as a commercial pilot before attending law school.
