Frankfort, Ky. – Governor Paul Patton released the following statement in response to the announcement today by the tobacco companies of a 45.3% cut in the basic tobacco quota:

“It’s a disaster for the farm industry in Kentucky.  It was not all that unexpected but it’s a disaster nevertheless.   It illustrates why we have to build a new farm economy in Kentucky and not try and save an industry that will never again be what it once was in our state.”
