Governor Patton Going to Western Kentucky To Offer Housing Assistance to Tornado Victims


Frankfort, Ky. –Governor Paul Patton will arrive in Owensboro today, Friday January 7th at approximately 3:30 p.m. CST at the Millionaire Terminal of the Owensboro Airport.

The governor will announce that the Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) will be offering assistance to families whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the recent tornado that swept the area.   Immediately following the governor will tour the storm-damaged areas.

“In order to respond quickly and efficiently to the families’ needs, the KHC will open a temporary office in Owensboro at the Green River Area Development District office building,” Governor Patton said.

Regarding the assistance available to the storm victims, F. Lynn Luallen, KHC chief executive officer elaborated that “Governor Patton has asked us to respond in this emergency situation and we are exploring every avenue open to us.”

Eligible and qualifying families will be offered low interest rate loans for new construction, substantial rehabilitation, down payment assistance, mortgage financing and rental/utility deposits.  Emergency rental assistance will also be available.

Families with existing KHC mortgages should first contact their insurance agent and then contact KHC’s loan servicing staff at (800) 341-5622.
