Governor Patton Donates Items to Support eBay’s “Auction for America”
Frankfort, KY – Governor Paul E. Patton has donated 3 special items representative of Kentucky to be sold as part of eBay’s “Auction for America,” the online charity effort raising money to benefit the victims and their families affected by the events of September 11. Governor Patton joins other governors who are listing items for the cause, which can be found at http://pages.ebay.com/governorsforamerica.
Beginning this week, Kentucky residents, along with others around the country, will have a chance to bid on: a set of four pewter julep cups; a “Louisville Slugger” baseball bat, and a pair of “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” boxing gloves signed by the three-time heavyweight champion and Kentucky native Mohammed Ali.
“Auction
for America” is eBay’s online charity effort that allows people around the
world to buy and sell goods online to raise money for the victims, their
families and communities affected by the horrific events of September 11.
The company has challenged itself,
through its community of 34 million registered users, to raise $100 million in
100 days. Billpoint, eBay's online payment solution, and Visa USA, MasterCard
International, Wells Fargo Bank and Discover Financial Services Inc. are waiving
their customary fees for “Auction for America.” Bidding ends October 25th.
