Frankfort, KY – Governor Paul E. Patton today asked all
Kentuckians to join with the nation and honor President George W. Bush’s
request that tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 14, be a “National Day of Prayer and
Remembrance.”
“This day will allow everyone in the Commonwealth and across the nation to take a moment and express their deepest sympathy in mourning the loss of their fellow Americans,” he said.
Kentuckians are encouraged to participate in this national observance by going to work, school and engaging in their normal business but using the noon hour for prayer in their appropriate faith, Patton said.
Governor Patton and First Lady Judi Patton will join legislative leaders, supreme court justices and cabinet secretaries for an ecumenical prayer service at noon in the Rotunda of the Capitol Building in Frankfort.
Additionally, Governor Patton is asking that Kentuckians observe “National Red, White and Blue Day” tomorrow by wearing or displaying the colors of our nation.
As part of honoring this day, every state building in Frankfort will have flags displayed and streetlights along Capitol Ave. will be draped in the nation’s colors.
