Special for Simpson County
Frankfort, Ky. (July 27, 2001) – Gov. Paul Patton announced today that Simpson County is the recipient of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in the amount of $500,000 to provide water service to the site of a new industry.
The
Department for Local Government (DLG) administers the CDBG program in Kentucky.
Toyo
Automotive, Inc., a subsidiary of Toyo Tire and Rubber Company of Japan, plans
to invest $14 million into the construction of a 110,000 square-foot
manufacturing plant in the new Simpson County Industrial Park. The company will
initially create 100 new jobs, and produce anti-vibration automotive components.
CDBG
funds will provide for the extension of water lines and construction of a water
storage tank.
Gov.
Patton said, “It’s always exciting to bring new business and industry to
Kentucky. We are pleased to invest CDBG funds into infrastructure for this
industry that will provide many jobs for Kentuckians.”
DLG
Commissioner Jody Lassiter said, “This project will also accommodate potential
industrial growth in the area as the upgrade will provide for future expansion
to a new industrial park.”
These
funds are made available by DLG through the U.S. Department for Housing and
Urban Development. DLG administers the CDBG Small Cities program in Kentucky,
which makes funding available to eligible cities and counties for community
development activities.
