Special for Webster County
Frankfort,
Ky. (July 27, 2001) – Gov. Paul Patton announced today that Webster County is
receiving $306,375 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to support
the White Oak Water Line Extension Project.
The
Kentucky Department for Local Government (DLG) administers the CDBG program in
Kentucky.
The
county proposes to extend 21,400 linear feet of 4-inch water mains out Bill
Dorris Road and Lutontown-Lisman Road and extend 30,400 feet of 6-inch water
mains to serve the residents along Old Providence-Clay Road, Bob Hatley Road and
the New Hopewell Church Road.
Gov.
Patton said, “These residents now use personal wells for their drinking water;
wells that have tested positive for coliform contamination. This project will
eliminate that health threat and secure safe drinking water for these
families.”
The
Webster County Water District has secured the remaining project funds through a
loan, tap-on fees and an Area Development Grant, which is also administered by
DLG.
DLG Commissioner Jody Lassiter said, “Local Government is pleased to be able to participate in this project that will benefit approximately 50 households, 30 of which are low-to-moderate income households.”
CDBG
funds are made available through the Kentucky Department for Local Government.
DLG administers the U.S. Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG Small Cities
program in Kentucky.
