            Governor Paul Patton has named Kevin Goldsmith as deputy secretary of the executive cabinet to assist Secretary Dr. Ed Ford for the remainder of the administration. 

            Ford said that Goldsmith’s experience with Medicaid, Medicare, energy and transportation issues, particularly monitoring those under consideration in Congress, will be part of his responsibilities.  He will also work closely with the cabinets that manage those issues on the state side. 

            Ford said that Goldsmith fills the gap left when Mike Haydon left Patton’s office earlier in the summer.  “Kevin brings much experience and knowledge back to this office.  We have lots of work to do between now and the end of the administration and we welcome his expertise.”

            Goldsmith headed up the state’s Washington D.C. office until it closed June 30 and since that time has been   He was with the National Governor’s Association prior to joining Patton’s staff.
