STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR PAUL PATTON ABOUT THE DEATH OF SGT. DARRIN POTTER OF THE
KENTUCKY ARMY NATIONAL GUARD 223RD MILITARY POLICE COMPANY IN IRAQ:
“Today I was informed of the death of Sergeant Darrin Potter, who was fatally
injured while serving with the Kentucky Army National Guard’s 223rd
Military Police Company in Iraq. Judi
and I want to extend our condolences to Sergeant Potter’s family.
We are praying for them, as we pray for all of those who have gone in
harm’s way in service to our nation.
As commander-in-chief of the Kentucky National Guard, I have seen first hand the
dedication and professionalism of these fine soldiers and airmen.
Words cannot convey the pride I feel knowing that Kentucky’s sons and
daughters have volunteered to protect our freedoms and our way of life.
We owe them so very much and I invite all Kentuckians to join me in
recognizing them and their families for the sacrifices they are making on our
behalf.”
