Rationale
The mission of the Kentucky Arts Council is to enable the people of Kentucky to value and participate in the arts. While we believe that most Kentuckians support state tax dollars creating opportunities to participate in the arts, we have little evidence that the public is aware of the role of the Kentucky Arts Council in providing those opportunities. Both grantees and artists selected to participate in adjudicated programs have a contractual responsibility to work in partnership with the Kentucky Arts Council in identifying state funding and creating public value for the arts.

Usage
The Kentucky Arts Council logo is required to be used by artists, organizations, schools and other entities that receive grant funds, monetary awards or have been accepted into the adjudicated programs of the Kentucky Arts Council. Organizations that are official partners with the lead grant recipient are also required to appropriately credit the Kentucky Arts Council.

Failure to comply will jeopardize future funding from the Kentucky Arts Council.

Organizations that receive operational support funding from the Kentucky Arts Council through the Community Arts Development, General Operating Support I & II, and Challenge Grant programs are required to appropriately credit the Kentucky Arts Council for all program areas, projects and activities of the organization in all communication materials.

The logo and prescribed credit lines will be used on all printed materials including calendars, catalogs, brochures, invitations and event programs; print and TV advertising; marketing and promotional materials; newsletters (print and electronic), TV/Film program credits, Web site home pages (with link to www.artscouncil.ky.gov), signs, posters, billboards and banners.

Exemptions
Credit lines are exempt from postcards 5" x 7" or less and print advertising less than 12 column inches; the logo is not.

Logos are exempt from news releases; radio advertisements and announcements; television, radio and newspaper interviews and curtain speeches. Appropriate credit lines are required when artists, organizations, schools and other entities that receive Arts Council funding use any of these communication methods.

Logo Elements and Positioning
The new Kentucky Arts Council logo is compliant with the Kentucky Unbridled Spirit brand requirements and incorporates the agency identifier at the bottom. The horse symbol, the "Kentucky" logotype, the "Unbridled Spirit" slogan and the Arts Council identifier cannot be reconfigured in any way. For detailed information on the Kentucky brand usage, consult with the graphic standards manual at www.KentuckyUnbridledSpirit.com.

Logo Size
When using the Kentucky Arts Council logo with other logos, the height from top of the horse symbol to the base of The Kentucky Arts Council type must be equal to or greater than all other logo heights.

The Kentucky Arts Council provides downloadable jpg files in five different sizes: 1" x .5", 1.5" x .75", 2" x 1", 4" x 2", and 12" x 6". Reproducible printed logo slick sheets are also available in the four smaller sizes. Contact the Kentucky Arts Council if larger sizes or alternate formats are needed.

If resizing is necessary, please reduce from supplied files and be sure to proportionately reduce (no stretching) for graphic integrity.

Minimum logo size usage for materials is 1.5" x .75".

The 1" x .5" size is reserved for usage on invitations, postcards 5" x 7" or less and print advertising less than 12 column inches.

Larger sizes for banners, billboards and other large-scale applications are available by contacting Ed Lawrence at Ed.Lawrence@ky.gov.

Logo Color
The logo can be printed in four-color process, single color or black as supplied. Reverse outs are also an option, provided they have a dark consistent background.

The color logo is comprised of PMS 2955, PMS 1815, PMS 2915, Black and PMS 185. Under no circumstances can those colors be altered or rearranged. Do not scan the logo from an already printed image. Always use an electronic file. The supplied file will print as four-color process; specifying spot colors in not necessary.

The single color logo is provided to you in PMS 2955, the dominant brand color of Kentucky Unbridled Spirit. Printing the single color logo in PMS1815 or PMS 185 on a light background is also acceptable.

Black is the easiest, most cost efficient and legible option for logo usage on white or light backgrounds.

For dark backgrounds, use a reverse out or print in single color PMS2915.

Credit Lines
Credit lines in all printed and electronic materials will be at least 8 points in size and used in one of the following four type fonts: Times Roman, Arial, Garamond or Trade Gothic.

Use the credit line (below) appropriate to the type of funding received or the program you or your organization is involved in.
